140 Characters to Leave Your Lover

How many characters
do I need to say
good bye?
There aren't enough

in any language,
any number of words.
You're there begging me
stay.

In response to Mama Zen's Words Count over at Imaginary Gardens with Real Toads who challenged us to write a poem in Twitter's 140 characters. It's not easy.

    1. As a woman of a certain age it's hard to think of leaving your lover without the echoes of Paul Simon.

  3. Gracious, I might learn to try poetry, if I visit here! :-) Really not something, which I ever imagined, for myself.

Guess I have a very old idea, of what poetry is.........

  4. Your opening line just resonates with me.. I'm not one for goodbyes, and your right - not enough words when the heart is so heavy.

  7. Something tells me you are saying goodbye a lot these days. I like this form, perhaps even better than haiku.

    1. True, with a lot more to come. This is less restrictive than haiku.

  8. Just perfect! And you know goodbyes are probably best done short and sweet. Sigh.

    1. Yes, last time they just grabbed me up in a big, fierce hug and didn't want to let go. Neither did I.

  10. Not easy at all. You did it. I think poets have the easiest time with this challenge. I can never be that succinct.
