"The Talk" - Friday Flash 55
Mother was having 'the talk' with me, she
made some vague reference to a little room
beneath my heart where a baby would grow some day.
What, I puzzled, A little room in my body? That grows
babies? Only years later did it occur to me that
she was naming a womb, not a room.
This is for the G man for Friday Flash 55 to tell a story in 55 words.

And of course as a child you had never heard the word "womb" before, so you would try to make it something you could understand. Not too far from the actual truth, though. A womb IS a room of sorts. :-)
ReplyDeleteExactly. I'm embarrassed how many years it took me to figure that one out!
DeleteGreat story. Our child ears hear some interesting things.
ReplyDeleteFlash 55 - Visual Vexations
They sure do.
DeleteHow funny! That's a story we can all relate too. They tried but usually just confused us. My mother just gave me a book. I found out the guts of things from my older sisters and friends.
ReplyDeleteI went to the library after the talk and was surprised by how little was available in the kids section on all this.
DeleteCute. I love this story.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sally.
DeleteMary...
ReplyDeleteWelcome back to the Friday Funfest
We missed you!
Maybe Elmer Fudd was your mom's sex Ed teacher?
Loved your misunderstood 55

This was fun- thanks. Hope your w/e was great too.
DeleteSweet.
ReplyDeleteWe're doing it differently with our grands, aren't we?
DeleteLove this. Made me smile and smile. e
ReplyDeleteWe probably all have such stories from our growing up years trying to find out what's what.
Deletehaha...so cool..i remember having that talk with my cousin and she explained the "act" to me and i was thinking...gosh, why would someone want to do this...smiles
ReplyDeleteWe found out why, didn't we?!
Deletesmiles. had the talk with my oldest last year...oy...how much to tell and how much can they understand..this was cute but also...well...smiles.
ReplyDeleteI know. I admire that my mother had the talk at all when a lot of my friends were on their own to find the info. So, good for you for opening that channel of communication with your son- there's lots more to come.
DeleteI really like this. Your mother had an interesting manner of description. I find it sweet.
ReplyDeleteShe was tring so hard to make it special and positive for me. That made it sweet in retrospect.
