After Friday 55

Is it too late for Friday flash 55?
Phantasmagoric happenings
kept me from yesterday altogether.
It's carnival in Trinidad next week
and steel pan competition finals
now; swarms of people, loud music,
exotic costumes, dizzying dances, bacchanal
unimaginable to one from cooler climes.
Glitz and glitter, glam and clamor,
calypso, soca, frenetic,
jump up madness.

Besides a day late Friday Flash 55, this is in response to Laurie's prompt word: phantasmagoric over at Imaginary Gardens with Real Toads. The photo is my granddaughter and her best friend in sparkly outfits.

    1. Those girls are so cute- picked out their outfits, put on makeup, styled their hair- they're ready for carnival (there's a kid's carnival).

    1. Oh good. We get shark and bake at a beach not far from where we're staying- very tasty. Thanks and have a great weekend yourself.

  6. Cute sparkly girls and I recall steel pan music when I lived in the Caribbean on an island. Loved it.

    1. Steel pan is the only musical instrument invented in the 20th century. I get to hear lots of the best players and bands here.

  7. I want to be there, and dance and soak up the entire experience!

    1. It's a unique experience. To keep it manageable, we go to the pan yard where the bands are practicing to hear them and to the kid's carnival- it's enough for me.

    1. I guess we're the only ones who place the on time expectations on ourselves- luckily.

  12. Phantasmagoric and glitz and glitter seem like good words to describe the fun of carnival preparation and these lovely girls seem ready to party!
