SINEAD O'CONNOR - THANK YOU FOR HEARING ME, LOVING ME - LIVE

Sinead O'Connor's song has a wonderful line in it where she gives thanks for what has broken her heart. I hear it as gratitude for that which breaks her heart, all our hearts wide open, which is a great reminder after my last post because that's exactly what happened to me after "that year". What makes the pain, sorrow, heartbreak bearable, even remarkable, is this simple fact that all the heart break of life breaks us out into out true selves in ways that can't happen otherwise. And links us up with others because we can have compassion on all other hearts broken wide open. She sings thank you for that. Me too.

  1. Nice posting, nice song. Sinead O'Connor is the best. Retired and moved to Italy, huh? Wow, that must be an adventure. (Is your favorite movie "Breaking Away?") Anyway, just signed up to follow your interesting blog which I found thru Aging Gratefully.

    1. Welcome and thanks for stopping by. Italy is truly an adventure and I'm having such a good time. It has broken me away from my USA only perspective into a more world-wide perspective and that's a much richer perspective.

  2. Hi Mary in Italy, This is first time I visited your blog and listened to Sinead O'Connor's song. "Thank you for hearing me, holding me, saving me, hurting me, thank you breaking my heart, tearing me apart, strong heart." I am sobbing. Her song and words are soul wrenching. My husband John sat here with me and watched and listened to Sinead sing. John is Italian, from New Jersey. His father, Giuseppe, immigrated from Sicily to Little Italy, New York in 1905, started a trucking business and retired as a millionaire in 1967 to Hollywood, Florida. Thank you for sharing this beautiful Irish lady's song. I have to link you to my blog with this song so my friends can see Sinead also. Perhaps it was the best thing for you to be "downsized" from your profession. Otherwise, maybe you would never have gone to Italy. Also, I am so very sorry that you lost your Mother so suddenly. A daughter always relates to her mother as the little girl she once was. My Mother died in 2005 and I write about her life on my blog. Look forward to seeing photos from you in Italy.
    Chow, Mary.

    1. Hi Nanette, thanks for dropping by and writing such a personal comment. Yes, Italy has shared her sons and daughters with the world and the enrichment has gone both ways. Sinead has a way of singing that's haunting. I've been a fan for years so I'm glad you enjoyed. That year eventually ended up being a blessing both personally and professionally, bot oh the process! The photo that's my header is a view from my balcony BTW. Ciao!

  3. mary, no more truth can be said, "What makes the pain, sorrow, heartbreak bearable, even remarkable, is this simple fact that all the heart break of life breaks us out into out true selves in ways that can't happen otherwise." if we can focus on gratitude instead of anger or resentment, oh, what potential we all might have!)))

    1. I agree with you, Erin. We have the freedom to choose our attitude and gratitude feels better however difficult it is to arrive at.

  8. just read the other post (somehow missed it at dVerse..sorry) to understand this one and was deeply touched... i think it's true...when we ourselves know about our own fragility and how fast a heart can break, we are able to understand and help others that suffer..

    1. It happens to us all and can draw us closer for strength if we let it.
