Look Closely or Else

Just took a rain forest walk
and missed the snake wrapped round
a branch until the guide said to look
closely and see. It struck me that equivalents
happen each day- me walking by and missing
what's there until told to really look, to wake up
and pay attention, my task lest I get bitten.

A Friday Flash 55 for G- Man.
Ugh-my iPad app ate my post! It was up and had comments and disappeared! I'm trying again.

    1. I like playing. I don't like being at the mercy of blog app as the way to interface with my blog since it doesn't do somethings nearly as well as my computer.

  2. Sometimes technology also bites us, like it did you. Snake in the app. :-)

  5. It's not just the snakes we miss if we don't pay attention. Staying alert and present is important for daily living at its fullest. I'm working on that at home!

  6. True words--and no one, except the very young, ever remembers to look *up* not just around. Or down always either, for that matter. Enjoyed your perceptive 55.

    1. Yes, this walk was about looking up, so I saw 3 species of rare birds and the snake- good lesson.

  7. I have spent long periods of my life without a car, and also long periods with one. I am always struck by how little I really notice about my neighborhood, by car, and how intimately I get to know it when I'm walking or biking. o snakes on branches, though!

Thank you for your several very thoughtful comments at my blog.

    1. In Italy I get to do a lot of walking so I know what you mean. I so enjoy your writing and especially the saucier stuff makes me want that voice as my alter-ego.
