Some Things That Happened in June

New plants on the balcony with clouds sitting on them.

Lunch with good friends to celebrate a birthday.

A new tablecloth with colors of the Italian countryside to brighten the balcony.

A new (to us) view of Cittá Sant'Angelo, our fair city

A new home for the bougainvillea so it can eventually tumble over the railing

New scents mingling on our balcony from new placement of jasmine, lavender and rosemary in proximity

Herbs and hot peppers thriving on the other end of the balcony. The basil is post- harvesting of two huge batches for pesto.

An old olive tree with new trim for its leaves located not far from our house.

Discovering new places with an old friend in Luxembourg Gardens, Paris.

Post- pruning magnificence of the coleus and its myriad colors.

New blooms on the plant who loves the light if not the sun and lives indoors next to the french doors.

I'm marveling at and enjoying the abundance of summer in my little corner of the world. How about you?

  1. So am I. I wish we could have endless simmer. Your flowers are wonderful. Your deck allows for quite a bit of growing.

    1. It's just the right amount of growing to tend and watch flourish. As well as to harvest and enjoy!

  2. I love how the Italians build their balconies! Wish we in the UK could get hold of some of your summer!

    1. They're very serious about using any space to grow fresh produce. You should see the tomatoes!

  3. I always love your photos of the things you are growing. We went from a very late spring to a very lush summer, almost overnight. My plans to grow produce will have to wait until next year, but the flowers (and weeds) are thriving.

    1. I have a relatively small and manageable space on the balcony and they all thrive in the south facing orientation.

    1. I'm glad you stopped by and enjoyed the view. I spend a lot of time on that balcony thanks to an awning over the table.

    1. The basil grows like crazy and I use it daily on my caprese panini. The pesto my Honey made was fabulous and a big hit at a dinner party we took it to last week. Temps here currently are in the low 80's and were in the 70's in June. It can be hot in August- 90 or even low 90's but usually for short stretches. Growing season usually starts in April or May, depending on the crop, and continues into October.

  6. That picture of the geraniums and clouds is so beautiful. And the rest of your pictures are wonderful, too, showing your environment and your life. Pretty darn perfect, if you ask me! :-)

    1. My Honey and I sat on the balcony yesterday sipping wine and eating fresh avocado drizzled with lime and said the same thing. I'm loving my adventure in this part of the world.

    1. We were going to a friend's house and took the wrong turn but were rewarded by this view. And the tablecloth was from a shop in Boston!

  9. Beautiful photos and descriptions. Summer sounds / looks wonderful in your part of the world. Thanks for commenting about my "princess" post in my blog. The post before that is Disney related as well; and I did dVerse Poetics on Saturday with a Disney theme and included more photos there as well...if you want to look back. My granddaughter really enjoyed being a Disney princess...smiles.

    1. I sent your poem to my granddaughter, age 7, who said, somewhat in awe, did she really become sleeping beauty?
