Family Calls

My granddaughter phoned today
excited about two things she can't tell me.
She said one was a present she made:
'It's small. Can you guess?'
I couldn't.
The second has to do with decorating:
'You're going to like this!'
Squeals and lots more 'Can you guess?'es
got me excited, too.
'Tis the season...
family calls...

Holiday 55 for the G-Man. My granddaughter is seven and I leave to see her and her family the day after tomorrow. I've made the usual promises to myself to keep writing, however, they live in the rain forest of Trinidad where internet connection is spotty. Forgive my lapses. But, I'm excited!

  2. Gifts and decorations are nice, but really, it's the excuse to be together that makes it exciting.

  3. Children get so excited about Christmas, thus get the adults in their life more excited as well. Family is the best gift at Christmas. Hope you have a good one!

    1. She could barely contain herself but showed her growing maturity by not telling me. This is the first year for that! Makes it all the more fun.

  8. That sounds simply delightful! Children carry the spirit of Christmas and make it all worthwhile. You are a very fortunate Grandmother. But I know you already know that. Safe travels! :-)

  9. Lovely Mary and I bet seeing your granddaughter can't come soon enough!
My first grandchild will be one on the 27th and I can't wait for next Christmas, although most probably the one after that, when I can share his enjoyment and excitement.
    Have a wonderful Christmas.

  11. I know you'll enjoy your visit; I love that your girl is so excited. Our granddaughters seem to have a lot in common. Vi loves arts and crafts, and as she starts each project she says this is for Mom, or Annabelle, or Maeve, etc. Have a wonderful family Christmas.

    1. Yes, they sound similar. She's still loving her pot holder crafts and the purses that can be made from them- always for a particular person. Don't they bring us back to our own little girlhoods? Merriness galore to you and your family as well.
